Although the basic Topps set had not had a white border since 1997-98, Topps Chrome did not mirror the brown and orange borders, instead going with the standard "chrome" border those years. However, beginning with the purple border set of 2000-01 and continuing through the blue and dark blue sets of the following two seasons, the Chrome set mirrored the basic Topps set, until it went back to white borders for the 2003-04 season.
