'97 Ultra was my first set I tried to collect the whole set from packs at my local card shop. I would save up chore money, lunch money, trades, just to chase the rare Platinum card. I never attained the whole set, and only pulled 1 Platinum, but this set definitely got me hooked. The script text with color halo effect for the name was a great design.

A classic set IMO. I absolutely love the script design and the photography. The photo variations separating the medallions from the base was a rather ingenious touch and the shine from the platinum sparkle will always be one of my all time favorite additions. Probably my favorite base set from the 1990s
