1982 Topps Traded
Trivia |
- The 1982 Topps Traded Set is different than previous and future years. Topps starting issuing a year end "Traded" set of 132 cards in 1981. The 1981 Traded set was issued on regular card stock (same as base set) and was numbered as a continuation of the base set (727-858). The cards looked identical, front and back, to the base set cards.
The 1982 Traded Set was also issued on regular card stock, but Topps re-numbered the cards #1T-#132T. To further differentiate the Traded Set for 1982, the Traded set cards had red backs, whereas the base set cards had green backs. This is the only Traded Set where the cards were different looking than the base set cards.
Starting in 1983, Topps would keep the numbering system (#1T-#132T), but would change the card stock to white with the cards looking the same, front and back, as the base set, with the only exception being the "T" numbering and the white card stock. Topps would follow this formula for the Traded Set each year for the foreseeable future. Regardless of year, Topps numbered the Traded Sets in alphabetical order by player last name, with a Checklist card as the last card in the Traded Set.
