• The 1983 set decreased in number from previous years as only 396 cards are contained in this year's set. Players who appeared in the Pro Bowl Game are identified in a rectangular area on the front. The backs of the cards are printed in black ink with red borders and a faintly identifiable helmet of the player's team covering the center of the back in a screened red color.
• For the 1st time, Topps used the Nose Tackle (NT), Outside Linebacker (OLB), and Inside Linebacker (ILB) positions.
  Instead of "All-Pro", the "Pro Bowl" designation was used, with multiple players at each position.
  Rick Upchurch was listed at WR instead of KR (Kick returner) for the AFC, possibly a UER.
• The Insert Stickers Set of 33 came one per pack. On the back of each sticker was a puzzle piece. There were three total puzzles consisting of 9 stickers each (3 wide by 3 tall). Each puzzle had a different border color, Red, Blue or Green. 27 of the 33 stickers had individual puzzle pieces on the back (9 x 3 = 27). The other 6 showed what the completed puzzle would look like (2 showing the completed Red puzzle, 2 showing the completed green puzzle and 2 showing the completed blue puzzle). In total, there are 11 total cards associated with each puzzle (11 x 3 = 33). Here is a checklist broken down by each puzzle border color. * Denotes the middle piece of the puzzle which is the only piece that has no border, and therefore no border color.
