- The factory set contains 7 bonus cards not available in wax packs.
- Mickey Mantle signed 2,493 cards for random insertion in Series 2 packs.
- 35,951 unsigned Mickey Mantle cards were randomly inserted into Series 2 packs.
- Seven autographed and 49 unsigned Score Mickey Mantle cards were available through a mail-in sweepstakes.
- At the time of its release, this was the largest set ever produced by a licensed major card manufacturer.
- Card #109 is sometimes incorrectly regarded as a UER, because he's shown pitching lefty, but the bio says throws right. The text on the back explains the picture.
- Card #881 Damon Berryhill is inexplicably grouped with various subsets at the end of the second series instead of the other cards with blue backgrounds (#442-550).
- Only 55 of the 76 World Series from 1905 through 1980 are represented in the Magic Trivia insert set. Not included: 1906-07, 1913, 1915-17, 1919, 1921, 1933, 1935, 1938, 1948-49, 1956, 1960-63, 1967, 1973 and 1975.
- This was the largest base set from a licensed MLB company upon its release. It would be broken the next year by 1992 Topps Stadium Club, which had a base set of 900.

- #493 Julio Franco - Born on "August 23, 1961", should be "August 23, 1958". Card companies used the birth date that was available to them at that time.
