Some of the best memories of my childhood are eating Eskimo Pie ice cream bars with my dad, listening to rock music on a AM only radio, opening up baseball cards in our beat up '73 Chevy pickup on a hot summer day.

Somedays I would pay an outrageous amount of money to go back in time to have one of those afternoons again.

Edit: aside from this memory my dad and I opened quite a few packs of baseball cards together in the mid to late 80's. He also took me to numerous card shows in basements of bowling alleys, municipal buildings, etc... My dad is to blame or thank for this fascination of collecting and organizing all these years later.

I consider myself pretty lucky that my mom joined in with our childhood collecting and would take us to card shows at the mall. Fast forward 35 years, my parents were visiting us out here and my mom and I popped into my LCS and grabbed a couple boxes of packs to open together. Now if I could just get my kids interested! :)

My wife wiants to open any and all boxes I buy, to the point that she will buy me blasters so she can open them. She prefers A & G. She also enjoys going to the shows and checks all the cards against the cards I need. After all that she could care less.

My Dad collected when he was younger, and helped me get interested, but I still selected "No" for this because he had stopped collecting well before I was born and never really opened packs with me. I remember a few times as a kid that I was sick and Dad would come home late from work because he had stopped to get me some cards on the way. He's a huge part of why I started collecting, but we never really collected together. He just supported me. I still send him pictures when I pull autos or relics.

My wife isn't a big sports person, but sometimes we'll buy a blaster together and split the packs. She likes the photography and she's excited when she finds even a base card of someone she's heard of.

It was my dad. It was all we talked about/did until I left for college. About 8 years back he gifted me his entire collection.

In 1972 I was 12 and had some baseball cards from the previous couple of years. My father noticed my interest and started me on actual collecting. He would give me a $5 bill (which was a LOT back then) and tell me to ride my bike up to Boyd's Variety Store to buy as many packs as I could. I would then bring them back home and he would open each pack talking about the players giving special commentary on our Chicago Cubs. He would then hand those cards to me and I would put them in team order. My father passed away in 2014 at 87 years old and I opened cards with him right up to his passing. I miss him.

My dad is the reason I'm such an avid collector today. He was the one who introduced me to the hobby, and he even still collects vintage to this day!

I started collecting with my son when he was 6 or 7 just for something we could do together. He was a very smart kid and sharp trader was known as "Beckett Boy" around the LCS's. He tired of it when he hit his teens, but I'm still collecting. Unfortunately, neither of his sons are interested in collecting.
