27. 1959-60 Parkhurst #29 Ralph Backstrom
1958-59. When he died I read an article about him where it stated he won the Calder Trophy. I didn't know that and decided I needed to do some research. Within 30 minutes this list was created. |

Ooof, this list brought back a bad memory. I remember sitting in the back seat of my Pop's car when I heard over the radio that Eric Vail of the Flames won over Pierre Larouche of the Penguins. I wanted to punch the window in the car door, LOL! | ||
It just occurred to me that Steve Vickers is wearing the 'C' in his 1972-73 OPC card. Vic Hadfield was the captain during 1971-74 and the alternates included Brad Park, Rod Gilbert and Jim Nielson. Hadfield missed a few games in 1972-73, but it seems highly unlikely that the Rangers would have given the 'C' to a rookie temporarily. Maybe Vickers was wearing Hadfield's sweater during the photo shoot and they airbrushed the "11" from the sleeve. | ||
