21. 1979 New York Yankees Photo Album #NNO Lou Piniella

August 12, Baltimore:

Sometimes when he strikes out or get jammed, he'll come in, and he'll have his batting helmet on, and the guys on the bench know he's gonna throw that helmet somewhere, and the guys are sitting there trying to figure out where to maneuver to avoid getting hit by the helmet.

22. 1984 Mother's Cookies Seattle Mariners #28 Seattle Kingdome

August 20, Seattle:

Once again we lost to the Seattle Mariners ... When you're not used to playing here, it's a bi***. Take what happened to Chris tonight. Some guy hit a high pop that got high up in the air in a hurry. In this park, if you don't watch the ball the whole way down, you're in trouble. Chris never saw it, it fell, and it cost us.

23. 1977 Topps Charlie's Angels #253 Charlie's Angels -- We'll Be Back!

August 27, New York:

Lemon told the clubhouse guy that he doesn't want the TV set on in the clubhouse during the game anymore. Guys were going in there and sitting in the clubhouse lounge and watching TV during the game. They were the guys p***ed off because they weren't playing, and when Lem would need a pinch hitter, someone would have to run and get him from the TV room. If the game was televised, they'd be watching it, but if we weren't on, they'd be watching "Charley's Angels" or whatever.

24. 1979 Topps #460 Graig Nettles

August 28, New York:

Nettles was talking about all things that go on on this club. He said, "When you're a little kid, you dream about running away and joining the circus or you want to be a big-league ballplayer. C*****, here I have the best of both worlds. It's a circus and I'm playing baseball."

25. 1963 Topps #454 Art Fowler

September 1, New York (pitching coach) -

Jay Johnstone and Cliff Johnson were messing around in the outfield during infield practice, jumping on each other's back while they tried to shag fly balls. After batting practice they came in and grabbed rakes and started raking around home plate with rest of the grounds crew. Fowler got real serious and in his country twang, he said, "Wail, I'll be G*******d. Those two m***********s fanly found a job that they can do right."

26. 1979 Topps #312 Bob Robertson

September 3, New York:

I was in the clubhouse when Goose was out there, but after the game the other guys were saying that he was really bringing it. He just blew them away - struck out the side on 11 pitches! The first guy was gone on three pitches. The next guy up, Bob Robertson, is a good fastball hitter, but Goose threw two balls right by him and then he threw him a little slider and it was all over. Goose struck out Cruz on five pitches. He took the last one with his bat on his shoulder. I'm sorry I couldn't see it. Everyone said it was just something.

27. 1970 Topps #624 Clyde King

September 4, New York: (Hired as additional pitching coach, July 1978) -

Yesterday Beattie pitched a good game, and one of the papers had an article saying how Clyde King had come in here and saved the pitching staff. I don't believe that for a minute ... He said in the paper that there's a lot more stuff he knows, but he's not telling it all because he wants to use when he becomes manager again. I'll tell you, if that's what he's waiting for, that information may never get out.

28. 1979 New York Yankees Photo Album #NNO Ron Davis

September 12, Detroit:

We got this guy Davis in the Holtzman trade, and the only thing anybody notices about him is how much he eats all the time.... After the game, he charges the spread like he has no concern for anyone else. The guy's a pig, plain and simple.

29. 1978 Topps #574 Bob Lemon

September 26, New York:

Lem wore a batting helmet tonight while he sat on the bench. I guess he was protecting himself from Piniella.

30. 1978 SSPC 270 #170 Mike Torrez

October 2, Boston:

In the bullpen we were laughing because our shortstops have devastated Torrez. In June, Stanley hit that grand slam off him, and now Bucky hit this three-runner. Seven RBI's in two swings. Torrez just can't get our shortstops out!

Putting together a list of the team, thankfully everyone who played at least a game for the 1978 Yankees are represented here.  Unfortunatly a bunch, including members of the 1976 and 1977 teams, are represented with unscanned cards in the Yankees of the 1970s SGA set from 1992.  I'm going to try and upload missing ones...soon =;)
