11. 1959 Topps #338 George Anderson

1979-1995

1331-1248 Record

Sparky has the most wins and the most losses of any Tigers manager. He was beloved, but he was also hated at the same time by many fans due to his by the book mentality of the game and for not hesitating to use the hook on a pitcher. However, he ushered in the new era of baseball in Detroit with relievers taking a bigger role in the pitching through the game.

Sparky is in the Hall of Fame as a manager and managing nearly twice as long in Detroit as he did in Cincinnati, he'll always be linked to the Big Red Machine and he does not wear the Old English D in Cooperstown.

12. 1964 Topps #154 Dick Tracewski

1979

2-0 Record

Undefeated as a manager for the Tigers! He filled in for a few games before Sparky arrived in 1979. He retired with Sparky in 1995 after a great 24 coaching stint with the Tigers.

13. 1950 Bowman #251 John Lester Moss

1979

27-26 Record

Les was hired after Houk retired and was let go after Sparky became available from being fired by the Reds.

14. 1952 Topps #200 Ralph Houk

1974-1978

363-443 Record

After succeeding Casey Stengel with the Yankees and winning some World Series with the Bronx Bombers, Ralph was hired to rebuild the team after Kaline, Cash, Lolich, Freehan, Horton, etc. He oversaw such talent acquisitions as Fidrych, Parrish, Morris, Trammell and Whitaker.

15. 1969 Topps #254 Joe Schultz

1973 (Interim)

14-14 Record

He was interim manager after Billy Martin was fired.

16. 1952 Topps #175 Billy Martin

1971-1973

248-204 Record

Billy oversaw an Eastern Division Title in 1972 but lost to the A's in the ALCS and was fired near the end of the 1973 season for ordering spitballs.

17. 1955 Topps #130 Mayo Smith

1967-1970

363-285 Record

I used to be a member of the Mayo Smith Society when I was a kids which is the Tigers Fan Club. He won the World Series in 1968 after managing the Tigers from being down to St. Louis 3-1. One of the best managers the Tigers ever had in terms of getting wins out of talent.

18. 1952 Parkhurst Frostade International League (V338-1) #91 Frank Skaff

1966 (Interim)

40-39 Record

Frank filled in for Swift and Dressen after they both became too ill to manage.

19. 1952 Topps #181 Bob Swift

1965-1966

56-43 Record

Swift filled in for Dressen after a few Heart Attacks but succumbed to Lung Cancer.

20. 1964 Topps #443 Chuck Dressen

1963-1966

221-189 Record

Long time and successful manger helped develop the talent of the Tigers but due to his weak heart, the Tigers never seemed to play to their potential in the early and mid-60's.

Nice list. I do not remember Larry Parrish managing them.
