1985 Hasbro Transformers Non-Sport Forum

About a year ago, I purchased an unopened/sealed pack of 1985 Transformer cards on eBay. When I broke the seal to see what cards were inside, I found seven of the eight cards as completely normal. However there was 1 card: the # 2 card: Jazz that had no background coloring! (see composite scan / front and back) The color behind the character should have been orange. Not only that but the Motto sticker that should have been included was not a sticker, but rather a cardboard version of a Motto sticker w/ slight color variations from the normal sticker. I have never seen a Card or Motto insert of this type. Does anyone have any information as to what is going on with this?

My first inclination is factory errors on both counts. The Jazz not getting the background printed, and also would indicate that at least 1 sheet would be like this or at least partially. It is also known how the stickers were printed (1 sticker wide rolls) so it being on cardboard is out of the ordinary.

I thought about the factory error idea, but why haven't other such cards appeared? If an entire sheet was messed up, that's A LOT of other cards without correct coloring. Where are they? And how come the cardboard sticker ended up in the same pack as a factory error card. And here's the kicker: After I received the item I noticed that THE BACKING Hang Card is SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. I'm not going to say how at this time. (I don't want other collectors searching out this difference. ) I've been looking on eBay every day since I purchased this item and have never seen another Hang Card similar to the one I purchased.. There has to be more to this story that just a factory error coupled with a cardboard motto insert and a different backing hang card. Was another limited series issued? Was this a convention item? Anyone out there with an answer?

I don't see how you can expect to get answers when you are hiding information.

And a TF site like TFW2005 would be a more appropriate place to ask whether or not the things you have found are known or not.
