1978 Dover Publications Hall of Fame Cards Reprints Baseball Forum

I am about to make up the checklists for the 1982 AL and NL Dover Reprint sets (I have both books of perforated cards) and was wondering how the checklist numbering should be.  The checklist for the 1978 set uses the card number from the original set (which is on the reprint set as well) but adds a letter e.g. a, b, c,...etc. when there is more than one #1 or other # reprint.  Myself, I don't like this because the filters will not work when looking by card #. NNO would cause the same issue.

Can we have more than one card # 1? In the 1978 set, there would then be 3 #1 and 4 #2.... This is my preferred but I want to know what others think.

If the letter is on the card itself, it should be included and will come up in the search. The system CAN handle more than one card with the same number. I'm unfamiliar with the set but matching the card is the key.

To answer your technical question, yes, a checklist in the database can have multiple cards with the same number.  It doesn't cause any problems.
