Does anyone own the base set of these? Ifso are they smaller than standard cards? I have found a set in the Sacramento but they are standard size cards, theyare all an ice blue glossy card so obviuosly a parallel but no clue as to why they would be called Jumbos. Just asking for my own sanity lol.

I have singles from the set, and they are standard size

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Standard-sized - they came out of "jumbo packs" IIRC.

Then "Jumbo" should not be the name of the insert set. It'd be like calling an insert set "Blaster" just because it was inserted in blaster packs. Are these like foilboards? The numbering "PP" suggest Pro Prospects. Maybe call them "Pro Prospects Foil". I'd have to go dig mine out.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Beckett says they were sold on Shop at Home, similar to some of the late 90s Collectors Edge football stuff?

Granted, it seems odd, but it seems that this is the term used for them across the hobby:
https://www.comc.com/Cards,sc,=1994+Classic+Pro+Hockey+Prospects+-+Jumbos
https://www.beckett.com/hockey/1994/classic-pro-prospects-jumbos/
And even sportlots:
So, we can change the name, but just understand that you'll probably prevent more from finding them than you'll help.

So, if they weren't inserted in jumbo packs. Then Jumbo must refer to size? If they're not oversized and I have it in-hand; how would I know it's a "Jumbo" insert?

Maybe standard and jumbo size exist? This was the height of Classic's QVC years. There could be 5 different sizes of this same insert set out there. I remember watching QVC for like 2 solid hours one night, right after Shaq was drafted and he was on there as a guest, just selling QVC exclusive Classic cards not available in stores.

There are no non-standard sized versions of these. The name always bewildered me as well. I never understood it. I always made the assumption that Classic called them that.

I think I solved it. There were "Jumbo" cards on the bottom of some boxes. What we're calling "Jumbo" is not the Jumbo set. The current listing should probably be changed to "Pro Prospects Foil" or "Pro Prospects Foilboard" or something like that.
