1993 Maxx Williams Racing Racing Forum

I always thought that J.R. Maxx, Inc. (MAXX Race Cards) and Erin Maxx were separate companies since the Erin Maxx Trans Am set was issued in 1992, well in the midst of the run of Maxx Race Cards (1988 - 1997-ish when Upper Deck bought them), but the Trans-Am cards do not carry the MAXX Race Cards logo.

The shrink-wrap on the 1993 Maxx Williams Racing set seems to indicate otherwise:

The box clearly has the J.R.Maxx, Inc. logo on it, and the shrink wrap has the Erin Maxx logo.  I see multiple listings with different pictures that show the same shrink wrap on the box, so I don't think it is a fluke.

Does anybody know the connection?

Erin was the daughter of the man who founded Maxx. I can't remember their actual name/last name. I knew it at one point. 

The insert in the Erin Maxx Trans Am packs of cards had this line in it-

"The company is committed to producing only the highest quality products that properly reflect the properties with whom we are associated with. I.e. Maxx Set 5 years ago purchased at $19.95 is currently listed in "Tuff Stuff" at $850.00"

They also mentioned selling NASCAR cards as well (plus Junior Hockey, British Athletics, Summer and Winter Olympics, which appear to be Canadian focused.)  Address is Canada. I know Maxx was printing all their cards in Canada at this time, maybe this was the wholey owned Canadian subsidiary that printed all their cards and distributed them in Canada and England.  Any Canadians know if Maxx NASCAR cards from this era in Canada actually had the Erin Maxx wrap?

What's this you say about Erin Maxx Trans-Am packs?  I've only ever seen the product in factory set form.

I wish I found the factory set! All of mine came from a wax box.  These are typical looking foil packs for the era, not the clear ones in the auction link above.

Yes Greg, I know that trading cards come in packs.  I was referring to the Trans-Am set specifically. The packs in the auction you linked to have regular base '91 & '92 MAXX cards in them.

Altough it is interesting that they have the Erin Maxx logo on them.
