2023-24 Upper Deck Boston Bruins 100th Anniversary Box Set Hockey Forum

Just picked up the Bruins Centennial set from Upper Deck yesterday, and spent today scanning the cards to add to the db. Since it is only sold as a box set, it's gonna be difficult to get the parallels and autos when there are only 5 in each box. I was fortunate enough to get the Bobby Orr yellow in my box though.

It's a nice set, with 44 players that were not named to the B's Centennial 100 team. Several of these could easily make it the next 100 if they did a list of 200. There were some notable names that didn't make it to the Centennial 100 team though. Which players do think are missing from the 100 team?

Well let's start with Eddie Shore ("Old time hockey" quote from the movie Slapshot) one of the games best D-man. There was also a goalie Cecil "Tiny" Thompson who I believe almost won 300 games for them in their early years. Don Marcotte maybe the best defensive forward not named Bob Gainey or Doug Jarvis. Goalie Gilles Gilbert who covered the net while Gerry Cheevers was off playing in the WHA. And pound for pound the best fighter of his time Stan Jonathan, was only a little guy but watch his fights on youtube (Butch Bouchard beat down specifically).

Jakob Lauko is in the set but David Krejci isn’t ?!?

I was hoping this thread would be more about who was not on this list, not who was missing from this set of cards. There are several in this set who could have been in the top 100. A couple that are missing from both include Murray Oliver and Tommy Williams. Who else?

Ok how about Gary Doak, a stay at home defenceman who let Bobby Orr and later Brad Park do their thing with the puck while he hung back. 

Ah never mind I see he's on the list but not in the set ... I give up.
