That is the issue. Topps and Panini publish their checklists and everyone else just repeats what was put out. But 99% of the time the numbering is generic for some of the sets, especially Panini. The published checklist may have numbers assigned (1,2 ,3, etc.), but when the cards are actually released they are alphanumeric (A-1, A-2, etc.) instead. Panini is REALLLLLLY bad about this. While it is possible to upload a few days prior, we try to hold off until after a release to upload so that numbering can be verified. The same with insert sets (Topps published a list of sets but they doesn't release some). Also, there can be unannounced VARs. Or revamps of the product can occur. Look how long it took Topps to release SC, what changed in the interim? Both of those issues may a checklist a pain to revise after the fact.
We can verify numbering through eBay for example.
