I go a few of these packs for free, and did not notice that they were different from 2022 Topps Chrome. I began to enter them in TCDb for trade. I got a ray wave in one of my packs, which is not in 2022 Topps Chrome [flagship /traditional] and only then did I figure out that Topps / Fanatics put out 2 nearly identical sets, with the difference being a Topps Chrome logo swap from left to right, and a different product number in the fine print on the back.
I was at my LCS today, and saw that a box of Sonic edition sells for about 60% of a flagship. I assume the hits must be less, or the hobby simply reacts badly to this release with resounding "boo."
I'm not a big fan of this money grab by Topps / Fanatics. It's kind of a train wreck accident waiting to happen. The hobby has evolved so that e-bay is a big part of it. This product is going to have huge mislisting problems on ebay, and angry buyers not getting the card they wanted, and leaving negative feedback.
