Does anyone know the story on base set Luis Castillo #344? The base checklist shows this card as SP for short print - as all cards between 301 and 350 do. I believe this card is not a short print for 4 reasons:

1. In opening a blaster, all my short print cards numbered between 301 and 350 came in the pack face down, this card was face up like a regular base.

2. This card does not have the CMP number matching the other short prints, but instead carries the same CMP number as the regular base.

3. Number 344 is duplicated (Lou Pinella is also #344).

4. The number of cards of 344 Castillo for sale at Sportlots is similar to the regular base cards, and not similar to the short print cards.

I expect this card is not a short print.

NOTE: Cards #167 and 181 do not exist. Instead, there are two cards sequentially-numbered 337 and 344.

However, two of the base cards are actually included in the SP numbers (#337 Manny Ramirez and #344 Luis Castillo), leaving empty spots for cards #167 and #181.

So yeah, the person who uploaded the checklist probably saw the 344 and just marked it as SP. I fixed the checklist. Note, I did not insert a "Was supposed to be #XXX" because I couldn't confirm which was supposed to be which. Straight UER stating the card was misnumbered.

More top notch quality control from the fine people at Topps.  Someone tell me again why an exclusive license is a good thing.
