Can someone explain the difference between the base cards and the no-protector parallels? Are they just base cards with the protective film removed?

No Protector cards are Finest technology on both sides. They are also printed on plastic. There are several scans in the album that are base cards with the cover removed. Wrong, but better scans than the base scans. I've been meaning to notify Admin but hadn't gotten around to it. Look at any I posted to see what they should look like.

I knew you'd know Billy. An Inaccuracy Report brought this up. The submitter thinks the "No-Protector" parallel is just base cards with the protective film removed.
This explanation should be put in the Release Notes so members know the difference between a base card and a No-Protector card. The "No-Protector" name makes it sound like nothing more than the protective film removed.
How's this sound for a Release Note? "Issued with no protective film, cards have the Finest-technology coating on both sides and are printed on plastic cardstock; they are NOT base cards with the protective film removed"

I like the wording. If this is true for baseball too, that should be added there as well as I know there was at least one baseball set issued as a no-protector set. (And other sports?)

A good example is the 1990 Topps football. The base cards you will see it in the Overview. The Inserts and Related they show up under the set title in the listings.
