1998 UD Choice Carolina Panthers Football Forum

It was brought to my attention a couple of hours ago that the 1998 UD Choice Carolina Panthers Team Set was not listed. After some effort, I can't find much info about the complete CL. I am working on it though. The original card I was asked about was # CP8 - Kerry Collins. I also found that # CP3 is Wesley Walls. I have some messages out to a couple of people that might have more info on the set. If any of you can help me complete the CL, LMK. I'd greatly appreciate it. I will update this set with a CL and more info if I can get it. I do know the set will be 10-12 cards. I want to say that it's surprising that we only have 5 of these teams sets listed so far. But after searching on this one set, it is not so surprising. There "should" be 30 team sets, but I can't guarantee that it is true. But I do know this one exists and that's why I added the set listing. I just need to find all the info.

I know Ed!!! Upper Deck really didn't make anything easy in the late 1990's. There are also all kinds of racing sets that they made that simply can't be found anywhere as far as a CL goes. UD really spread the footprint wide back then. But it seems that even they didn't keep up with everything that they made. I do have hope for this Panthers set though. I have the complete Packers team set that I bought when it was new just because the Panthers set was sold out. Somebody out there has one. I just need to find them and get them to give me the info.

A collector on SCF noted William Floyd is CP11 and confirms Wesley Walls is CP3.

Thanks for looking out jpl. I also got the info Thursday about the Floyd card from a local collector friend that I contacted hoping he'd have the set. So far, I only have those 3 cards accounted for in what is at least an 11-card set.

Edit without an actual edit. I just checked your link and Bobo is who I PM'd about this before here on this site. I like your SCF thoughts about this set. I think based on the list you gave that the Peters #198 RC was not in the team set and neither was Gilbert (#306) since he was new to the team and didn't play at all in 1997. Gilbert and Floyd were the only Carolina players in the set that didn't play there in 1997 and weren't a rookie. But we know Floyd has a card. I reached out to an ebay seller last week that was selling a Collins card asking for info. He said he had a few other cards from the set but couldn't help me at the time since he was out of town. I haven't heard back from him since then, but I think I have enough to create the checklist now. If I'm wrong and someone can prove it, then I'll personally fix the listing.

I now have confirmation on numbers 2, 3, 5, 8 and 11. #5 changed the list a little. It looks like they left out Winslow Oliver and did put Sean Gilbert in as #7. They may have left out Tyrone Poole instead of Oliver, but I doubt it. The list should be correct now. If not, I'll alter it again.
