I opened a sealed box of 07-08 UD last year and didn't get a single Young Gun card. Even though they state the odds are 6 per box. I contacted Upper Deck about it and they pretty much said "tough luck buddy". So I certainly have my runs of bad luck with cards. It does not feel good. BUT I chug along and still collect

Sounds like you may have gotten a resealed box, too many guys know the patterns and especially UD Hockey has too often been predictable, to not get 1 is awfully fishy.
I've lived too long and seen to much shady s--t, there was a dealer back in 1990-91 who shamelessly passed a stud sensor trying to locate the Stanley cup Holos from Pro set, and this guy didn't need to do that because when opc closed he bought unreal amounts(rumored to be about a trailer load) of cards which included many years including 79-80 and not just the year they shut down.
Why pull stuff like that well his rep needless to say locally is burnt, so he chugs along on Ebay.

I've been seeing lots of people complain about that online this year, and experienced it myself too. Very upset at the bad corners and edges from packs, personally the worst I've seen it in years.
Case in point, I picked up some Tim Hortons Hockey last wekeend, had one red die-cut card where the foil was peeled back off the paper by at least a 1/4". Their customer service dept will be busy this year

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

I got zinged on some Panini Contenders football last year. Two packs almost identical. At least my inserts were all different.

I think the manufacturers wrongly assume that nobody wants the base cards anyway, so they probably don't care. We are no longer their target audience, and really haven't been for years.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Yep, seen it at the LCS. Some buyers, who plop down a pretty penny, will open their items right in the store and just leave the base on the counter. They will then immediately inquire about the "going rate" fer any hit they get. That just ain't my style. I never open in the store. And for me some of the base is more precious to me personally than some of the hits.

Watching ebay for hobby boxes and everything is minimum $130 including S&H, some as high as $250 a box. This past season, boxes were still around $90 each. Ridiculous. No way Lafreniere is driving boxes up $40+

I'm just wondering if anyone had any cards from 2020-21 Series 1, where all the edge foil is flaking off? I suppose no one would want these in their collection? Just frustrating, the obvious lack of quality control this year from Upper Deck. I have a picture, but I'm not sure how I need to post it
