Fair enough, though note I was using some playful sarcasm in there. Should we discuss what these Note2's may look like? Or do we make the Note1s SP and the Note2s look like the SSP or SSSP?

JIm, I doubt it. If it's actually in Note2, which now displays on the checklist page, it's there to be seen. So as long as whoever makes these adjustments to the checklist does it correctly, and doesn't lose the S's, it would wind up being a redundancy to change Note.

I agree. But you'll still have people go back in and update the Note1's anyways changing them back to SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSP. It'll be a never ending battle. Someone will have the itch to include the Beckett/CC/3rd party annotations in here. Release Notes are always helpful...to those that take the 2 seconds to actually look at them.
Sarcasm aside, yes I like that idea and can always do my aprt ot change things back to SP.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that the thing to do here would be to make all of the various short prints have the "SP" note and then use NOTE2 or better yet the release notes to explain the differences. Does that seem reasonable?

Note2 would be used to explain why other sites consider it an "SSP", "SSSP", etc, but those terms should not be used here.

From my first post in this thread:
If the hobby wants, the "degree" of "Short-printedness" can be indicated in the Note2 field (e.g., "VAR: SSP: Legend variation"). That should never be used in the Note field. (bold emphasis added)

Ah ha, so I was correct with my initial statement, "I believe that the following cards are all mislabeled with SSP"! <I'm baaaaack!!! -Cam Newton> But of course for the wrong reason (SSP in the Note), ahh man. First, thank you to all who responded, I appreciate the feedback and I'm sorry if I raised the blood pressure in a few of you. I'm sure administering/moderating a site like this can sometimes feel like you're herding kittens or coaching a baseball team of 5-year olds, same thing.
@BigEd76 had me at, " 'SSSP' isn't used on this site."
Just so I'm locked in on this, SSSP is not used period on this site (I swear that'll be the last time). Not in the Name. Not in the Note. Not in the Note2.
Also, SSP should not be used in the name, and neither should SP. SSP should not be found in the Note, and some feel it shouldn't exist at all. SP should only be found in the Note and if further clarification is needed, some details would then be added to Note2 (ie. pull odds [least likely to get you strangled]). It sounds like SSP might be able to be added to Note2, but there's no way I'm doing it. Uh, uh. When I'm in Atlantic City at NSCC next year I don't want to have to be looking over my shoulder every two minutes, or any more than one should in Atlantic City.
To close, the first question I ever asked on this site was met with answers like, "follow your heart, the hobby is whatever you want it to be" and "there's no wrong way to organize your collection, it's yours, it can be whatever you want it to be as long as you love and cherrish it", I thought it was a little non-directional soggy granola, I'm glad to see some of you actually have balls and defend the work you've put in to make this site what it is today, and for me, that's a big help!
Thanks.
Chris
PS I have an odd feeling that I got something wrong, bring it!

Same page, same page. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. Though, admittedly, I could have said it better.

@jimetal7212 - Dude, I don't think you're allowed to put sarcasm in the Note, let alone playful sarcasm. Tow the line Sir.
@Vrooomed - How was that <wink>!?

I'm reopening this thread, because of the new thread started today [11/21] by lildog, with regard to some 2023 Topps update cards that have SSP printed on the card by Topps, and a different micro code last 4 numbers for each SP / SSP / SSSP variation.
The decision seems to be, to call those cards an insert set, rather than
1. an "a" or "b" variation with notes.
2. a partial parallel set [which in TCDb, partial parallels are not allowed]
I'm thinking that this might be the first time that Topps has imprinted SSP on a card. I'm not an expert. I don't remember seeing it before, or reading about it, though I am kind of random on reading about such things.
With regard to Topps / Fanatics / Panini / Leaf / Upper Deck / other .... printing SP / SSP etc on cards .... insert set will be the policy?
unless the entire set gets an SP variation, ..... and then it will be: lettering in the base set . OR... parallel ?
