I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread on this set since everywhere else in the hobby people are talking about it.
I think some of the cards are cool looking takes on the original rookie cards. I think the $20 price point scared off a lot of people early on but now these cards have caught on fire. Any one else buying these?

I can't fathom paying that price for reimagining of these cards never mind the outright hideous looks of some of them. I think they have only caught fire as collector's are desperate for something new. Man, what would happen if we went back to the days of just 3 releases...or one? So no, no interesting in buying one. I have some vintage wants tha tcould use that money instead.

I liked the one George Brett rookie that we redone, so I bought the bundle of Brett and Rivera.....still waiting on delivery, but $35 for the pair...I figured I would flip the Rivera since I don't like it and don't like the Yankees :)

I am a fan of the the set. I am a Ripken collector and have bought the one's that have been released so far. I also am collecting other player's where the art is appealing to me. The prices that some of these cards have sold for on the secondary market have been insane.

I'm not personally a fan of the set or of any of the examples really so far and have no interest in buying any. Had to give credit to Topps for doing something new. I too am scratching my head at some of the prices paid (literally BONKERS) but I ain't gonna tell anyone how to spend their money. Of course this success probably means Topps will overdo it and run it into the ground over the next 5 years :)

The only one I'm really looking forward too is the JK5 Frank Thomas. I love his style and Thomas is the only player featured I have any interest in. But yeah it's crazy what the first few weeks cards are now going for. Still have over 300 cards to go.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I have bought all the Red Sox cards, which is only Williams. I am pretty much a sucker for all the Topps brands. These cards are interesting to say the least. I don't get all the hype. I think the inflated prices are due to the high demand for sportscards. People aren't spending as much on other things such as going out to eat, the gym etc. I know my credit card bill isn't as high as it normally is.

Well said! I'm not a fan of these either but I'm not a fan of a lot of Topps' offerings. I just stick to Topps flagship baseball and Heritage baseball. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some type of art cards inserted into 2021 Topps flagship, Heritage or other Topps' products.
