Shiny silver cards

Can somebody who collects these tell me if the base set is shiny silver on the left and right borders? They all scan dark, and I only own one card from this set, so I could use a little help. Thanks.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
