1991 Upper Deck Baseball Forum

I have found BigEd76's contribution to the '91 Upper Deck hologram fiasco most helpful on the subject. I have been paying more attention to this phenomenon within my collection and those I come across at my LCS and shows. I came across 4 cards recently that the hologram seems to be split - in other words, the "Upper Deck" words do not line up all the way across the hologram. One side is higher/lower than the other side. The hologram itself is not split, just the lines inside of it. Is this just an application error or is there yet another variation? It seems to me if it was an application error the hologram itself would be split, with one side being higher than the other. 

Holographic paper/stickers have "seam" lines. Ever notice some of those early Finest refractors had lines in them? Same principle.

These are just cases where there was a seam where the portion ofthe hologram was being applied. When I logged my inventory, I saw several like that. It's not an additional hologram variation - it's ONE of those holograms, just makes it a little tougher to tell which one it is.
