1991 Topps Baseball Forum

   As a Storm Davis collector (#1 on TCDb), I have three "front" versions of his #22 card - with, without, and one with a partial (R).  The partial looks to have a nearly complete imprint upon very close inspection, but only the bottom edge is fully inked in black.  Printing flaw or someone's failed attempt to erase the (R)? ...you decide!

   I am not lobbying for another variation, just pointing out that minute differences are really only valuable to a specific team/player collector - or a "speculator" with money to burn.  As said before, and already seconded, 1991 Topps just should not be worth that much, ever.

   I wish he was pictured pointing left towards the spot where the variation occurs, that would make it even awesome-r.  

This one is known outside of this site. I know exactly what you refer to and that 3rd version, the partial Reg symbol version is definitely a transitional attempt by Topps to remove the reg symbol and not a tampered-with card.

Interestingly, if you review a 1991 Topps Tiffany set, there are more than a dozen cards that have the reg symbol by the Topps logo (and no, no corrected versions exist).
