Bottom Line Up Front:
Should the current checklist be deleted and a correct version uploaded or should we fix the current posting?
Background: The TCDB checklist for the "1967 Topps Who Am I?" set contains two Variations of each card. The versions are often refered to as either " With Disquise / Caption Back" OR "No Disguise / No Caption".
The "With Disguise / Caption Back" version is a 44 card set released in 1967 and sold in 5¢ packs. The "No Disguise / No Caption" version is a 36-card reissue that was produced in 1968 and sold in "Fun Packs".
The 36-cards that were reissued were produced on a 132 card sheet along with 44 cards from the 1958 Target Moon set and the 1964 Hot Rods set. It is believed that cards from this sheet were intended to be included in Topps' "Win A Card" game. However, the game sold poorly and was discontinued before these cards were included.
Topps then sold the cards in 1968 Fun Packs along with other unsold stock.
I published an earlier post about the 1958 Target Moon set and all members agreed that the two variations of the Target moon set should be listed seperately.
Should we do the same with this set? If so, what is the best approach since both variations are already listed in a combined checklist?
P.S. - I'll be moving on to the Hot Rods set next. It is a little more difficult/confusing
My two-cents is worth slightly more than a penny.
