2017 Topps Update Baseball Forum

This probably doesn't rate too high on the importance scale of things, but I noticed that this subset actually says "In The Name" on both the front and back of the card images that I have seen on BaseballCardPedia even though they use "OTN-XX" to identify the card. Is this worthy of a name change for this set?

I know how many people hate "Beckett" but IMHO it should be named how they have it in their database regardless of the numbering scheme used 

I can see where this will cause problems.  Someone with card in hand will be looking for "In the Name" as is plainly printed on the fronts and backs of the cards.

The only place I found the insert name was on the Sell Sheet.  Nothing on packs or boxes. At some point after printing the Sell Sheet, Topps must have changed their mind as what to call them. Or possibly a goof they decided not to fix. 

And it's a checklist headache.  Looks like each letter is a 1/1.  Both card numbers are the same, "OTN-NCA".

Wonder if Topps intentionally chose players with long surnames for inclusion in this insert set full of 1 of 1s.  Only partly tongue in cheek...

And it brings to question, is there a card for each letter of the last name? Are there two S, two A, two L?  Do we add each letter to the checklist?  Since they're the same card number do you call them VARs?  Giving a 1/1 card a VAR just seems wrong.

I believe that if letters are repeated in a players last name, then there is a separate card for each one. So Mike Trout would have 5 cards, all with the same identifier, and 2 of them are T's, which are probably indistinguishable. In my personal checklist, I created an entry for each letter, not that I'm ever going to get one of these. But you never know. This particular subset has 532 cards on the checklist. If it were up to me, I would treat them as a variants of the same card with the letter as the distinguisher and each variant is SN1.

My guess is that this is a mistake on Topps part.  Series 1/2 are titled "In the Name" on the card with the expected ITN numbering.
