Anyone planning to take out a home equity loan to buy a box of 2016 Topps Transcendent?

I hope Topps falls flat on their face.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

No idea what that is, but they make way too many sets as is. Anywhere from 3, to 5 sets is more than enough a year, that includes Bowman.
Who buys all this stuff? I about flipped when I saw a 16 card pack of Heritage for $5.99 at Wal-Mart. I'll keep buying what I want as singles, at least as far as Topps baseball.

Looking at the sell sheets, the release just looks like a mish-mash of autographs, especially the cut ones.
The design for the base autographs seem uninspired. The base set actually looks decent, but very 90's-ish.
The one thing that does look interesting is the Kris Bryant set, but Topps seems so gung-ho about realeasing a new Kris Bryant card every day of the week. Also, it's a set they could have easily done with Archives sans-autograph.

I haven't even looked up anything about it, but I know it's insane to think that would sell. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH TOPPS??? They already drove me out of buying their MLB cards back in 2010 (and NFL in 2014) with their ridiculous crap and now they want to drive away everyone else. Then again, Panini and UD are constantly making products that are thousands of dollars per pack. Who do these companies think is going to buy all this stuff they are packaging? They should just take all that un-affordable crap to Sotheby's or some other auction house and sell it to the biggest idiot with the most money!
A box of trading cards should never cost more than $250 for at least 10 cards and most products should be between $60-$150 for a hobby box. The # of cards in those boxes should be related to the sport though. In MLB and NFL, it should be at least triple-digits for the number of cards. In NBA and Racing, there should be at least 50-100 cards in every box. I'm done with the rant for now.

Thinking about this more, it really angers me. This is basically telling fans who love the game that Topps no longer considers them important. I'm glad I don't collect baseball actively because this is so wrong that it might have made me walk away. I can't even go to the doctor because I can't come up with the money to get the darn Jeep fixed and I'm just one collector. My passion for sports cards knows no bounds, heck it's the main reason I get out if bed each day, but this is just a slap in the face to real fans of baseball. I've had enough interaction with flippers online to know that they don't really care about sports cards...it's obvious that they don't when they don't even know how to properly spell a major athlete's name, which I have seen on multiple occasions. They just see true collectors who collect because they love sports as big walking dollar signs.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
