I don't believe this to be necessarily true. My two versions are both of the darker background variety, but the Eagle is most definitely different between the two.

I didn't like the idea of this var being present while other color variations in 1990 Pro Set football aren't present. Similar situation, black vs purple card numbers, etc. It is a printing error and IMO shouldn't be here as a separate item.

EDIT: I wanted to add this clarification. For the Pro Set example, there are three colors. Once you have enough, you realise that the black numbers are actually not printed in black, and the color differences between them is just the particular ink color levels used to make the black color.
