former  cardinal player and long time cardinal radio broadcaster passed away today

I am surprised he never appeared on any cards as broadcaster

this is my favorite card of him that I have

I was born in '59 in St. Louis. Although I was too young to remember the '64 Cards World Series win against the Yankees, I was always a Shannon fan for all I can remember. I remember when he first started doing Cardinals baseball on the radio...it wasn't too great but yet it was. I remember when he did a TV game in LA for the Saturday game of the week early in his career---not good. However things did get a lot better.

I remember he had so much admiration for Jack Buck - and who didn't! He will be missed...remember, "get up baby, get up, get up"!!!!!
