A former coworker went to high school with him, somewhere in Texas I think. Tom told me that when he was a junior, and Meatloaf was a senior, Tom's band beat Meatloaf's band in a "Battle of the Bands" competition.
RIP

Awesome singer. Was also in the only movie I would continuously watch. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is by far my favorite movie of all times. Has to be in a theatre.

Not many celebrity deaths touch me, but this one really did. I listened to his first album over and over in 1977 and 1978 even though I was only 10 years old. And Rocky Horror? Best movie based on a musical ever. His vocal abilities, to me, rate right up there with the great Freddy Mercury.

All New York Yankees cards are welcome to join my collection. I'm also interested in recreating my main childhood collection, which consisted of mostly 1974 and 1978-1982.

He even had a hit when I was younger --I think around 1992? He seemed like a good guy.
Sadly, I can almost hear the flippers buying up all his autographs on eBay......

Like a Bat out of Hell I'll be gone when the morning comes.
Thanks MeatLoaf for all the memories. I played this album more than anyone I knew in high school and since. Bat out of Hell was great but what baseball nut would not love Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. RHPS is also one of my favorites. Riding that motorcycle out of the freezer was very cool. Recently saw Meatload in a Nash Bridges episode from 1997. No one is gone that lives on in our memories. Thanks Meat.
