Starling Marte is doing a LOT for the A's but what I love the most is the SB excitment. He is a perfect 22 for 22 in SBs since joining the A's and 44 for 47 on the season. Many were saying that stealing bases was a dead artform in modern baseball. This gives me hope. I think its one of the most exciting things in the game. Even if anaytically neutral in strategy the pure excitement and entertainment value it has for the game has me rooting for every attempt. Thank you Starling Marte.

Another former Bucco doin good elsewhere.
Anyhoo, I agree, the stolen base is truly fun and exciting. I will always remember the first time I got to see Rickey Henderson play live. The man was supremely entertaining when he got on base. The pitcher acted like he had no clue what the dear Rickey was going to do.

He's definitely been a big help to my fantasy team too.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

I read he's the first player in history to steal at least 20 bases in each league in one season. He also has a chance to finish in the Top 5 for both leagues.

He also has a chance to be the MLB Batting average leader, but won't have enough PAs to be the AL or NL leader. Sort of like McGwire's 58 homers in 1997, but not leading either league.

Agreed. Base stealing makes the game much more entertaining. Who else remembers watching baseball in the 1980s, when they'd put up a split-screen so you could see the pitcher on one half and the runner on first base taking his lead on the other half? And then the commentator would say, "THERE HE GOES!" and you'd hear the crowd get into it. We need more of that in today's game.

I for one would kind of like a mix of both
If a player is fast enough to consistently take bases, why don't they?
Tim Locastro is a good example of this

Something sililar happened to Eddie Murray in 1990, only he didn't get traded. He lost the NL batting title to Willie McGee, who got traded to the AL, by .005 points. McGee didn't hit as well in the AL, and it dropped his overall season average below Murray's, but he had enough at-bats to take home the NL batting title. Murray led both leagues but didn't get to be the official leader in either of them.

This reminds me of something I came across yesterday when looking at some stats. so Marte has 23 SB since the deadline, which is crazy enough, but even moreso when you see he's 4th in both leagues in SB. I mean, Trea Turner is leading the NL with all of 27 SB. I get it. steals are rarer nowadays, but 27?
