As if the dismantling of the Cubs wasn't enough. Among all the other trades in the league is our arch rivals the Cardinals get Jon Lester to boot.

That's what happens when you have three players who have expiring contracts at the end of the season and all are expected to command big $$ and are looking for long-term deals. Rizzo is the oldest of the three @ 31. I would have expected no more than a 4 yr deal at best for him from Jed.

Oh, no, I said my piece in the other thread. I'm a lifelong Cubs fan who now lives in DC. I've never seen so many beloved players leave in a span of a couple of days. But it was necessary. We'll see how it works out.

I agree v3. Jed has said that the door is open to re-signing them after the season is over. So, yeah, we'll see.
