FWIW, there is precedence for the baseball HOF, whom cancelled formal inductions during WWII due to travel restricitions.
It wouldn't be until 2013 that those clases, despite plaques being created and hung, got a formal induction ceremony. But they (which included Lou Gehrig who couldn't travel period to what would have been his induction in 1940) were due in part to zero BBWAA inductees that year, the three Vet committee inductees being elected via the pre-intergration committee so all three had been deceased since the 1940s, and even the Ford Frick Award Winner Tom Cheek had passed on by that point.
So the lone living celebrant that year was the Spink Award winner, Paul Hagen!
