The baseballcardpedia Promo description reads:
In September 1997 Pinnacle Brands distributed promo cards, available in all three colors, previewing the upcoming 1998 Epix inserts. There is no player depicted and the front merely has Pinnacle's "Icon" logo. Like the regular Epix inserts, the Orange promo is the easiest to find and the Emerald the scarcest.
The back of the promo card incorrectly states that the first series of Epix inserts would be released in October 1997. The first batch of Epix would not be released until December.
It states "distributed", nothing about being inserted in packs. If they were actually inserted in packs, what baseball packs were released in September? I can't think of any. And what upcoming 1998 Epix inserts is the promo card referring to? If the actual 1998 Epix inserts were to be released in October 1997, that's very early for 1998 baseball. baseballcardpedia themselves even states 1998 Pinnacle baseball was released in February 1998. So, unless they are counterdicting themselves, these weren't inserted in a baseball product and aren't promoting an upcoming baseball release.
Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
