Is there a section in the FAQ about bankruptcy issues not being able to be listed in the database? I did take a look but didn't see anything.

The bankruptcy thing is a grey area. Stuff not issued in traditional packs gets out, but doesn't necessarily mean it was backdoored (stolen). There are usually liquidation auctions of assets, and that card inventory is an asset. When Press Pass went out of business, Dave & Adam's bought their inventory and sold repacks of it, at least for racing cards. I would assume a repacker probably bought the Score Board inventory at a bankruptcy auction, and that is how these got out there.

There is a difference between stuff that was prepared for original issue and after-market altered cards, which these seem to fall under the latter.

What makes these " after-market altered"? Sounds like I am missing something on these, didn't see anything at that link that explains it to me. They seem to definitly be aftermarket since they were not packed out in a Score Board product,, not clear on the altered part. Due to how common these were in repacks I am assuming someone bought the inventory as a part of the bankruptcy liquidation, but that is just an assumption. I don't think bankruptcy courts/administrators would destroy cards in inventory if they have some saleable value and no one was threatening a lawsuit.

Along with the seven-year itching, my ears are burning too!
I think the use of the word "altered" by vroomed is the thorn in svenny's side. I do not think these cards are altered in any way.
My two cents was/were that these did not have an official release product, yet they managed to get into the market through secondary means. Listing on TCDb would be problematic, as there would not be a checklist without exhaustive searching - unless there is a former Score Board employee with some insider info. Perhaps this set can be an "add-as-you-find-them" type of checklist. Also, for the record, I no longer have any of these autos in my collection at home.

Kurt hit the nail on the head, I don't think these are altered. The question would be were they purchased by the 3rd party by legitimate means, or were they backdoored (stolen). Given the known distribution by repackers and how common they were, my guess is that someone bought the entire inventory from the bankruptcy sale, but I have nothing to prove that.

Just to throw some fuel on the (potentially) altered fire...
My Duncan is signed in red and I have also seen blue and black ink signatures. I had always assumed they were fake autos on post-bankruptcy cards because of this variety in signatures/pens. (But I have no real idea!).

Yes, it's very possible these cards were printed and awaiting to be sent out for signatures. But were never sent out due to bankruptcy (couldn't pay the athletes). Someone bought the bankruptcy inventory and had them signed.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

There are posts from a former Score Board employee on Blowout. Here is his history of posts: https://www.blowoutforums.com/search.php?searchid=49104726
Key points— some cards (autos) were sold direct to consumer, not in packs, and they were real. Direct quote: “Score Board would have players sign limited edition runs for sale on QVC/ Hsn etc all the time.”
