Yesterday, while visiting my LCS Friend, We discussed my strange pack-opening discovery, at length, with another long time LCS Dealer, via phone call, in my local card store. These are the same two long-time dealers that have THE BEST Vintage Lots on eBay. This includes my own Space Coast LCS.
The one in the Orlando Area chided my own LCS Guy that He needs to give me my money back and a free pack. He stated that I paid for 2022 Topps Heritage retail pack and got my first 2021 Topps Archives in one of the two packs I bought last week. They were intrigued, like We were about this anomoly.
We concluded that Topps sends out a bunch of retail packs, especially these days with the "feeding frenzy" that is going on in Our Hobby. Someone that packs cards for Topps, placed this card in that particular pack (may have gotten "stuck" with another card, after the printing process?). Then last week, I discovered this minor discrepancy. Strange way to get my 1st 2021 Topps Archives card? Funny thing is that I continued looking around the Store yesterday and found numerous Topps Cards (2014), with the same 1973 design, in one of the gazillion boxes of cards that my Friend Paul has in His Store. Just glad that Topps is utilizing one of my favorites from my early days of collecting baseball cards!! Thank You for the interest and replies, as Our Hobby is special and important to Us. May each of You have a Blessed Week and continue along nicely in April!!!
