Shown here is our Martin Lapointe card. It is slightly narrower (about 1/16") than a standard card.

Beckeet lists it as a 1999 set with 41 cards, with #41 being Bowman alone.
CIC lists it as a 99-00 set with a card #42, with #40 being Tikhonov AND Bowman (which I have seen an image of the card, they are on it together).

The card I have scanned has a copyright date of 2001.

Needless to say, I am confused. What year of realease is this set? How many cards in the set? And what exactly are the teams on thise cards?

Season is 1999-00, It is an insert set for a charity game in honour of Fetisov I guess. The teams are World stars (zvezdi mira) and Russian stars (zvezdi rossii). It is an insert set which is part of a bigger product which has 269 base cards and some other inserts also, it's called Mirovoi Sport or World Sport in English, they have sets for a few seasons.

Last sticker has it wrong too - Tikhonov and Bowman are not on separate cards:

Yeah looks like it, they are also missing a scan of Tikhonov so it obviously doesn't exist. They are also missing the header card that has Fetisov on it but it's probably unnumbered and not 42 like on Center Ice.

Upon further research, Tikhonov and Bowman are on separate cards after all. The front is the same but the back is different. They are #40 and #41

But I still don't understand the 2001 copyright on a 1999-2000 set.

Good question. First of all looks like the tribute game was played in August 2000, so the cards couldn't have been made before that. Also, looking at the scans of the base cards from 1999-00 set, they all have 2000 copyright. 

Listing the Fetisov cardss with the 1999-00 could be a mistake that has then been repeated by different sites. Maybe they were separetely released or included with the 2000-01 set.

I have tried to find checklists for Mirovoi Sport hockey sets with no luck.

Mirovoi Sport released RSL (Russian Super League) card 1998-2007. Some sets I have marked as inserts might be their own sets.
