Card Identification Forum

I have 2 Jeff Gordon cards that would appear to be inserts from the 1995 Assets set. Cards are as follows:

A4. 1995 Winston Select Winner (Picture same as 1995 Classic Images Race Reflections Jeff Gordon JG2, but with "dirt" background image

A8. 1995 Coca Cola 600 Pole Sitter (Picture same as 1995 Classic Images Race Reflections Jeff Gordon JG4, but with "dirt" background image)

Anyone have any idea of what these are?

Those must be some seriously obscure cards, maybe even from an unreleased set.  I checked every source I can think of to find mention of them and only came up with one listing of card #A8 on one Gordon collector's "Master Checklist".  No hint of a complete checklist anywhere I've looked so far.

The more I look at these pictures, the more I have to wonder, if these were even made by Classic / Finish Line to begin with, were they some sort of internal test piece or prototype that made it out the backdoor (before or after they went out of business)?  I can't imagine them printing a card or cards without a copyright line if there was any intention of it going out the door.  (Or maybe that was a design oversight that caused the set to be unreleased?)

Good observation on the copyright.  As I look closer, there is no "TM" by the Assets logo on the front. From a look and feel perspective, it is the same as the normal set, doesn't scream knockoff.  Also, since it uses the same images from the Images Race Reflections set, seems like an unusual amount of effort would have been put into these from a photo editing perspective (not just a cut and paste). These pictures include elements cut out of the Race Reflections card at the bottom.
