I started a new thread to be able to add a photo pertaining to "I have 2 Barry Sanders #76 from the 1996 Select common set.  The foil on one of them is gold and the foil on the other is silver."  I hope the photo shows the difference.

I am just taking a wild guess here, but I'm sure there's no parallel listed or you would have no need to post a mystery thread. Is it possible one is a promo? While most promos clearly stated as such on the card, there are several examples I can think of where the only way you could tell it was a promo was by a design difference, sometimes very subtle. For example, the 1996-97 Stadium Club NBA set, the only way to tell is that the holofoil bar with the player's name faces the opposite direction than on production cards. 

Like I say, I'm just guessing here, but is there a promo listed for Sanders?

Only thing I can say it may be a printing error.  The gold foil do not get put on.  I have looked through all the 96 select cards I have and have not find any silver oones.

Look at the Artists Proof inserts for that set...they seem to have a gold foil in the printing.

htoutlaws's Barry Sanders website has it listed as a "Error (Silver Trim)."

I still say its both the regular (silver foil) and artist proof (gold foil)...look at the cards loaded in the sets.

The base set cards have gold foil. The Promos say PROMO on the back and the Artists Proofs say Artists Proof on the front in the same gold foil. I really don't know what to tell you about the silver foil card.
