I don't know if this is a 1 card set, or if this is a promo for the LDDS Worldcom Michael Jordan set. I found many of those on COMC.com and ebay. But none have a serial number nor an expiration date.
If promo for LDDS Worldcom set, can someone tell me how many cards in the set?
Many thanks.

That’s a throwback to a different time!
Never mind pogs, chromium holographic foil, etc, try explaining the concept of phone cards, and CD Rom imbedded cards as a collectible item!
Oddly the latter I did get an “I don’t know what the hell this is” from a then 40-50 year old uncle (1996-1997) who handed me one that was a freebie from an event he worked as a security detail (in other words he didn’t need to know what computer file storage discs where) for.
Odds are, he’d know what the phone card’s actual purpose was!

Oh boy. Phone cards. Never got into those. This was about the time period where you couldn't watch an hour of television without seeing several commercials for 1-800-COLLECT or similar services. How the telephone industry has changed.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I’m not surprised that they were a thing.
I’m surprised there was a whole darn regular industry magazine dedicated to them, as if they were no different from stamps or coins!

I have a Jordan calling card but wasn't sure if it was the one pictured. I did find it and mine has the same exact picture but only 10 minutes vs. 30. The back has a different layout and but similar narrative for instructions.
Stevejrogers, thanks for posting that link - pretty interesting and I may have to add some items to my wantlist outside of this site! I think in the near future I'll be doing some eBay searching and looking to see if any of those companies with ads in the PDF are still around in some fashion. I guess I had no idea so many where out there.
I knew I had the one Jordan (not even sure how I got that) and I do have the Robin Yount Ameritch ones noted in that PDF which were a stadium giveaway on Robin Yount weekend, but the AAGPBL ones are of interest as well as some other sets listed/shown.

I had one or two sports related phone cards. By the time the pog fad or what ever you call it came across the country, if it ever reached Boston. No one ever heard of it.

Phone cards were such a big deal in 1995/96. Then people started having cell phones and pretty much killed the phone card market overnight.
Classic hung onto them for a while more, but I wonder if it contributed to them going out of buisness in 1997? Perhaps they put too much resources into them. I don't know, just wondering aloud.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I have a different (1996) worldcom Jordan phone card. Were these officially licensed? I don't see his name on it at all, but it's Jordan in a #23 jersey.

Totally unlicensed. I wonder how long they got away with issuing these.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
