Hello,
I tried searching through past forum responses and I couldn't find all of the answers to my questions about linking names to non-sports cards so I thought I would ask them here. Essentially, I am really into Non-Sport cards and a lot of the set cards don't have specific characters addressed on the front like a sports card would. It seems to be a shame that a lot of these cards don't get linked to any character. So, my main question was whether or not you can link the name of a character who appears on the front of the card or not (or if it matters whether or not they are mentioned on the back).
For example, I am really into the walking dead. Season 1 has a card that is called Dedicated Lawmen (https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/85861/cid/6191993/2011-Cryptozoic-The-Walking-Dead-Season-1-10-Dedicated-Lawmen) and it features the characters of Rick and Shane. Would it be wrong to link it to these characters? Do they have to be mentioned on the back like they are on this card? I'm just trying to understand the general rule.
Similarly, I have a question about the actors who play these characters. I think I was able to find a consensus on this, but I thought I would put it here for verification. It sounds like the actor does not get linked to a card of their character, such as Andrew Lincoln being linked to Rick Grimes cards for the most part? Thank you for all of your help everyone.

There are tons of actors linked to the characters they play on this site.

I think this makes the most sense but I saw some forums trying to say it wasn't supposed to be that way, so that's part of the reason I'm trying to find out.

I was just looking at the TV show Rawhide earlier and Clint Eastwood is linked to his Rowdy Yates cards, as an example.

It is my understanding that the current practice is to link to both the character and the actor. I'm sure there are a lot of sets that have been in the database for a while that need link added.
One prominent example:

If the front is a scene and doesn't mention any specific character(s), you can link to the actor(s), and if they have separate PIDs for the characters they play, those can be linked as well. If there is a character that has only been played by one person (e.g. Pee-Wee Herman), he should be listed as an Alias on the actor's PID.

As always, I defer to BigEd76. That brother knows his stuff and that 76 in his profile picture reminds me of the Philadelphia 76ers and then I get warm fuzzies for Dr. J, Moses, Sir Charles, the real AI, Joel the Troll and a University of Kentucky treasure known as Tyrese Maxey.

To expand on what Ed posted:
If a character is portrayed by muple people, when the actor/actress is known on the card, then the actor/actress can be linked as well (it's not only for one person to one character portrayals). If the actor is not known when multiple have portrayed that character, only the character should be linked.
Additionally, if this is done for one character, in one set, the same should be done for all chatacters, all cards in the set.

Using Walking Dead as an example, any card where the scene has Rick Grimes should be linked to both Andrew Lincoln and Rick Grimes, but based on feedback I received from Admin, since Rick Grimes has only been portrayed by Lincoln, there shouldn't be a separate PID for Rick -- it should be an Alias under Lincoln's profile instead, and only Lincoln would be linked.
In cases like a Batman movie, where multiple actors have portrayed the character, we can have a separate PID for Batman, then the card would be linked to both the Batman PID and the actor's PID.

Thanks for all the help. So is there any way that the two PID's need to be merged between Rick Grimes and Andrew Lincoln? Currently they're listed as separate. Is there a place to report this kind of inaccuracy? I can't find it on the player's info page.
