Set merging questions.

I just started working on the 2009 DAV set and was thinking about the set merging tool. I created a new set, and was wondering if I just merged each set into that one, and did it with every other set, and just made sure I was doing it in the right order, would it work? Never used this feature so I don't necsisarily know if thats how it would work. Thanks.
