I cannot help but feel that this new detailed record available of the Change Log is destined to become a "battleground of wits and endurance" of sorts. To be sure, there are almost as many different trains of thought of what is "correct" in the hobby world of card collecting as there are collectors. Just perusing a few sets' Change Logs, I find that many of the changes I have made very recently have been changed again, most back to the very same info that I "corrected".
Please understand, fellow members, I have no illusions of any omniscience of mine. What I DO strive for, without apology, is a depiction and a description of an item Just. As. It. Is. Without embellishment, imagination, or just simply choosing to overlook what is physically evident on the card.
When I first discovered this site, the most coveted maxim here, to me, was a tireless pursuit of accuracy from all members, for all submitted info. This melds perfectly with my own relentless OCD, and my personal belief that if we are to hold ourselves to a higher standard of hobby excellence (and fun!), the information found on this site should be unquestionably, transparently accurate, for collectors of all levels of experience to trust.
If a card is a photo of one or more players, yet the text on the card identifies it as a Checklist or some other subset, and makes no mention of the players' names---title the card exactly as it is printed on the card, and create a link to any player's names. Done. List the card # exactly as it is printed on the card, and clearly describe any variations, making searching a much less frustrating experience for all members. Done.
Every day I see "corrections" and submitted card name titles consisting of text and/or info that is nowhere to be found on the card itself. At the very least, if you are unsure about how to title a card, please resist the impulse to make something up and submit it. Likewise, a verbatim plagiarism of Beckett's card descriptions here is beyond tacky. ;-)
