Just out of curiosity and to gain some knowledge why would you remove the weather "Tornado" but gaming "Tornado is ok? They both appear to be the "name" of the card.

PID stands for "Person IDentifier". A tornado is not a person. It's the same principle that guides that "car" does not get a PID.
The following is copied directly from a communication I had with Admin a while back regarding PIDs:
I took a stab at trying to define what gets a PID in the FAQ a while back. This is what I came up with:
http://www.tradingcarddb.com/FAQ.cfm?ITEM=Names#12
Basically, "no" to common nouns, "yes" to proper nouns.
So looking at your list below:
- Flowers - No
- Other generic items found in nature (plants, animals, land formations) - No
- Ships (named such as "QE2", etc.) - Yes
- Generic trains, cars, planes, trucks (ex: "Ford Mustang" or "Boeing 747") - car - No, Ford Mustang - Yes
- Bridges - Ex: Brooklyn Bridge - Yes
- Buildings - Ex: Empire State Building - Yes
- Other man-made items such as tools, machines and other contraptions - depends if it's a proper noun or common
- Subjects of Art Cards (this and the next one combine for the "what gets the PID" question earlier) - depends if the subject is a proper noun or common
- Artists of Art Cards - only if they're the subject of the card
- Cards that show an actor/actress portraying a real person (ex: William Bendix as Babe Ruth) - Yes
- Cards that show an actor/actress portraying a fictional character - Yes
- Cards that show characters (like Star Wars cards or cards of comic book characters) - Yes
- Pokemon / Yu-Gi-O / MTG - If recurring characters, yes
- Music groups (do we PID "Queen", or do we PID the 4 members "Freddie Mercury", "Brian May", "John Deacon", and "Roger Taylor" and any time Queen is on a card, tag all 4 individuals? Same for like Hall & Oates?) - PID for the band itself, PID for each member if the member has solo cards, link both
- Wacky Packages / Garbage Pail Kids - No
- Beanie Babies (Yes, there are card sets out there of them) - No, unless the characters are recurring. It would seem kind of pointless to have an entry for each beanie baby with just one card listed under each. Same goes for the Pokemon / Yu-Gi-O / MTG / Garbage Pail Kids.
So, as Admin stated - Proper noun - YES, otherwise, NO. Tornado is not a proper noun, therefore it should be removed. Not all "Names" on cards get PIDs.

I wouldn't be too quick to remove PIDs from some names in the non-sports, especially those that have many cards linked. Sports cards and non-sports cards are different things and those knowledgeable about either will have different perspectives.
Furthermore misinterpretation of Vroomed's list is likely. The name of a species is a proper noun (e.g., Largemouth Bass), whereas a generic name (e.g., bass) is not. Largemouth Bass should have a PID, bass should not. So saying that animals, plants, etc should not have a PID may be misleading to some.
In the non-sports category, some collectors have spent considerable time and effort to link cards that depict a specific subject and would not be too happy to find out that someone decided to undo all of their efforts because they felt that a species of animal shouldn't have a PID. Especially if it was "sports card collector".

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

Right, I think "Blue Jay", "Cardinal", "American Robin", "European Robin", etc. should have PIDs (and many of the early 1900s sets have these already), but a generic "Bird", absolutely not.
That weather set I linked to earlier has specific phenomena like "Tornado", "Lightning", "Hurricane" and "Rainbow", but if those are too general to have PIDs, I get it.

First, this is not MY list - this was ADMIN's list.
Second, what Admin says, goes. That's not open to interpretation or if anyone else "thinks" these should be PIDs. Admin has said NO.
Screw it - do whatever you want.

The generic "Tornado" has been deleted and the cards now have PID 0
I see something else on that list that's gonna be a cleanup problem, but I'll hold off on mentioning it for now

Billy, Right! if it does refer to the same person (your example - Superman), it can use the same PID....ala Michael Jordan for Basketball and Baseball.
But like you said "Tex" would be seperate PID's
There will be crossovers with the Marvel card games and such..

Not creating an arguement here, but just bringing up a point and I (we) could send it off to Admin to see......but gaming cards, etc. If you are searching for a specific card and there's only one, if it doesn't have a PID, then the DB is pointless. We have sports figures that have PID's for only one card, why would we not for gaming cards.
Beanie Babies (Yes, there are card sets out there of them) - No, unless the characters are recurring. It would seem kind of pointless to have an entry for each beanie baby with just one card listed under each. Same goes for the Pokemon / Yu-Gi-O / MTG / Garbage Pail Kids.
Same with the gaming cards and nature events, items, etc. (Only familiar with Magic really), But, I know there are cards called Hurricane, Lightning Bolt, Forest, Plain, etc. that have multiple cards over multiple sets that if you are trying to find any of those, if they don't have a PID, a search would give you no results.
We have a PID for "Puck" and mascots that only appear on a few or possibly even only one card.
Since this is Database....why not make it so that we are able to search and find any cards?
Just a devil's advocate POV....

Adding onto your point about nature events, what's happening right now is we have cards with generic things that are getting tagged to PIDs of comic characters, TV characters, wrestlers, American Gladiators and even some of the 18+ content on here, because anything that isn't supposed to have a PID isn't being set to "0" when created, and it's impossible to keep an eye on everything with millions of cards in the database.
