That's an interesting idea. Recently I've become "discontent" with the information (or lack thereof) on the "edit set" pages. Currently the database has two fields to differentiate sets; "set name" and "brand". The "Brand" field is auto-filled with the "Set Name" unless someone goes in and edits the field. That's fine for some sets. 1977 Topps for instance; Set Name = "Topps" and Brand = "Topps"....all good. But what about when the set name is "Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition" is this really the "Brand" name as well or should the "Brand Name" be "Topps"or one of Topps' official brand names? (Topps does have official brands. They can be seen here).
I would like to see (using my example from above to illustrate):
- Set Name: Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition
- Brand: Archives Baseball
- Publisher/Manufacturer: The Topps Co., Inc.
- Lithographer (for tobacco sets): N/A
I think if we expanded the set information like this and made it sortable that way, you could find the information you were looking for.
A tobacco set would look something like this:
- Set Name: Indian Life in the '60's (T73)
- Brand(s): Mecca / Hassan
- Publisher/Manufacturer: American Tobacco Co.
- Lithographer: Donaldson Bros.
My two-cents is worth slightly more than a penny.
