That's the tough part about having corrected versions in Factory sets...they are the corrected versions and the errors are the packed out versions. Especially with something like this where the numbering was changed. I personally think it is correct the way it is, but we all seem to have our own opinions on the way this one is handled.

My problem with the 2018 Topps set is now that the factory set versions are listed as the corrected version it shows my set as incomplete . I find that somewhat annoying since I have all base cards as they were issued in packs . I feel like the factory set version should be listed as the variation as it was not found in packs . I don't buy factory sets so the way it stands it will show my set as incomplete unless I find somebody trading or selling these 2 cards individually .

Hopefully Admin will be able to make a correction to the 2018 Topps set completion because I think it's more likely that people will have hand collated the set versus buying the factory set and will see their set as incomplete.

Let's flip that around. And the person who buys the factory set, and carefully entes the cards as they appear (and doesn't just blanket add the set), would wind up having their collection indicate that their set was incomplete. And clearly, it's complete.
We can't have it both ways.

From what I have been reading with the 80's and 90's donruss sets , they are seperating factory set from pack sets . Couldn't we have a base set (packs) , factory set , and master set ?

The rest of the cards weren't different with the 2018 set like the Donruss sets were. In those cases, the ENTIRE set was different (or more than 95% of it). We're talking 2 cards here, and in the case of 1985 Donruss where a couple cards were corrected in the factory set, they are listed as COR versions (but they were numbered correctly from the start). They won't get the whole factory set treatment because it was only a handful of cards that changed from the packed out versions to the FS version.

Dan, you say we can't have it both ways, but is that true? I dont know anything about computer programming, but is it truly impossible for the site to recognize that you have one card of each number and call it 100% regardless of which version it is? I mean, we put a man on the moon. This doesn't seem like an impossible task. But maybe it is.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Another thing I found interesting with the correction by Topps is that on the in set checklist crd #361 it lists 364 as Mallex Smith and 365 as Dynamic Dodgers but when Topps made the correction in the Factory set they made 364 the Dodgers and left Smith at 365 . I wonder if the factory set fixed checklist card 361 to reflect the change or if the checklist just became an uncorrected error .

I went back and checked and the checklist card 361 still shows 364 Smith and 365 Dodgers, so that could be classified as an UER if somebody is so inclined.
