HI Greg, I was involved with ProSet in the early 1990s. In the first Hockey set (1990) issue there were an enormous number of errors. I proof read the second series (1991). There are very few errors there, a few inconsistencies and some questionable interpretations. In the process I wrote the backs of several cards in the Player of the Month series and many of the next year . Then wrote almost all of the MusiCards. I wrote all except for the Rap cards. Thetc.en wrote about a third of the Desert Storm set, the geography and the persons. They had a military writer who wrote the cards that depicted weapons. I have a few stories that are too lengthy to discuss here. Lud Denny had a good attitude about the cards; in that, his philosophy was to make them as available as possible. Along the way they started including a limited number of chase cards - Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer,

The more I learn about Pro Set the more I wish they had survived longer than they did. I have the complete NASCAR sets and the Desert Storm set, one of the golf sets too. And so far the 1990-91 Hockey set is among the early favorites for my new sport. I don't really have much to offer- I never saw the Pro Set sets when they were new, getting them all after the fact- other than my support for championing their cause.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Thanks for your comments, Billy. It helps to know that Pro Set has not been forgotten.

Hi Greg, if your doing research try to find info on these if possible?
1991 football autos - supposedly 2 different Lawrence Taylor's and a Eric Kramer, I have never even found pictures of these, 1991 football all-pro redemption cards, the mini gazette inserts talk about them and the magazine mentions winners but I can find nothing on them either
Euklid - do you know of any owner sets produced when you were with pro set, I know of the 1989 and 1990 football and have just seen a desert storm on ebay

Here's an interesting article about Lud Denny and Pro Set. It includes a picture of the LT auto card. I have never seen one in person. Even if I did, I don't know if I would trust it. I don't think Pro Set included any kind of marking on the card indicating that it is a certified auto. Its basically the same card as the base set....its just signed.
It seems like an easy card to fake.

I will mainly be focusing on the UK releases but will let you know if I uncover anything about the US releases. Did the Pro Set magazine mention the UK releases?

Thanks for that article. A UK soccer set did signed and embossed cards in 91-92 (the Shooting Stars collection produced by Merlin). This was unheard of in the UK at that time. Pro Set didn't do anything like that in their UK sets.

Thanks Cnangle, saw this before but reluctant to believe the auto, looks like article was written 2011 and has no mention of where picture came from and as you say very easy to fake
could be real but still unsure, strange that they wouldn't number it or something, I may contact him for more info
thanks
