Haven't seen anything other than Blaster boxes at the 8 Walmarts in my area. the Blasters they do have are not what I am looking for.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

I went to Target last week and picked out a box of 2017-18 Upper Deck MVP hockey. When I got to the checkout the cashier found out that nothing came up when she scanned the box. She asked me, "What price do you want?" I said howza bout 2 bucks. So got a whole box for $2.

SWEET story Gunny!! Put it to WM and UD ..... they both deserve it!!! LOL. Who`d ever thought I`d have to pay $44CDN bucks for a blaster box and at all places WM!! The price UD is charging now that they have the monopoly is disgusting. Plus it gets very boring at my WM because they have 100 blasters of UD S1, 100 of S2, 100 of SP Authentic .... you get the point. Heck even the few OPC there are $30 for a blaster. UGH.

I know what Gunny did, and I didn't have the "intestinal fortitude" to try it when I saw it a couple years back.
Target has a bunch of boxes sitting there that clearly say on them "Not to be sold by the box", but will still sit there wrapped in cellophane. I took one over to the self-service price checker and it said something like "not in system" or the like. If I had other items to take up, I might have tried to slip it by, but I didn't.
Gunny, nice. But I don't that would fly in NJ/NY however.

This kinda happened to me around xmas time in the early nineties. Picked up an unopened box of new Stadium Club first year they came out at Target with no price sitting right next to the packs and took it the scanner and it showed $2.49 for the price of the box, same price that was listed for the individual packs. Added it to my basket with other items and got a $90 box of cards for $2.49. Of course that same box is probably worth abot $10 today.

I have three Wal-Mart's within 20 minutes of my house. Two of them carry a small selection of sports cards, the closest one only magic and Pokemon. All my recent grocery trips have been to the one that keeps a discount box of blasters and hangers. I've gotten 2016 Heritage high numbers and contenders baseball and football. They of course have flagship(as far back as 2015), random basketball and Topps football regularly. The hanger selection is normally the same as the blasters and they're marked down to $7. Also normally have two rows of rack packs, one sports and the other with wrestling priced $3.48. Most of my trade fodder comes from these.
I won't venture into what Gunny did or didn't do, but considering it was a 2017-18 product it could have just made it to the shelf early. It happens to me often, mostly with new Lego sets or pop funkos, but a few times with cards too. Either way, I guess I'd have to say well played.

A few years ago at the Target in Wilton, ny, I got an entire box marked not to be sold as a box. I convinced the cashier that I was going to buy the entire contents of the box, so could I please have the box to store them in on the ride home? That's what we did. She rang up a pack and entered the quantity into her computer, so it showed that I purchased 24 loose packs. I completed the set, too! We broke the cellophane in the checkout isle to get at the pack to ring up.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
