MVP Sportscards in Laguna Hills, CA. If you’re ever near the area I would highly recommend checking it out.

My LCS had free boxes. The wife and me both got Holiday Megas, Keychains, and small packs of Topps Hobby Rip Nights. Which looks to be a 20 card set, similar to NBCD sets. We showed up around 3:45, and they started at 4. Rod Brown from U of Michigan was there doing selfies with everyone. They were having drawings for Topps Chrome and the t-shirts and a trade night event at 6:30 that we did not stick around for. 

That’s cool they had free boxes, the Holiday Megan’s at my LCS were only discounted $10. 

I believe it was 10 Heritage Hobby, 20 Holiday Megas, and somewhere around 60 mixed Blasters. We figured Topps had sent free boxes to every LCS. But from the sound of these, it looks like my LCS put out some money for it.

I bought a series 1 Mega before I left. Just pulled a Red Aaron Judge from the Rip Set.

Mine seemed to have infinite Heritage Hobbies, Holiday Megas, ‘23 series 2 jumbo boxes, Topps Chrome Black, ‘22 Chrome Sonic and Update Hobbies all for discounted prices. Had some very solid pulls from the boxes I bought, but nothing crazy. Got a Trout in the Rip Night promo packs so I’m happy!

I went to the Rip Night at Hall of Fame Baseball Cards in Monrovia, CA (more or less an hour northwest of MVP Sportscards). It was actually held Saturday afternoon. Guests who bought a hobby box or jumbo box of '24 Topps also got a free "Topps Hobby Rip Night" t-shirt. I got a hobby box--here's my t-shirt:

They also had trivia contests where guests could win a 4-card pack of Topps Hobby Rip Night cards. I won eight times, winning eight packs. I like these cards. I was lucky enough to pull a red-orange parallel and a serial-#'d purple-green parallel.

I opened seven of the packs (28 cards not counting the checklist cards) and pulled 11 of the base set, 2 parallels and 15 dupes. Hopefully I can complete this small set.

My LCS also had hourly raffles and I won this sealed box of 2023 Topps Chrome Black Star Wars:

Mingling with the other collectors was also fun and informative. I'd been going to my LCS' rip parties since 2012 (except for a couple of times when I had to go to work). They've also always been lots of fun and I'm very happy to have attended this one.

Had a good experience at my LCS. For every Heritage High Number hobby box that was discounted to $50 you bought, you get a pack of unique cards and a t shirt. I didn’t buy one since I already had most of the set, but I did buy a couple hobby boxes from 2022 (Chrome Update and Chrome Sonic) that were discounted to $45-50. I enjoyed participating in a “rip battle” where you selected a pack from a box (2023 Allen and Ginter and 2024 topps) where you compete with other people in the store to win hanger or blaster boxes. For example, if the goal was to find the heaviest player in the pack, you needed to beat everyone else in the store ripping packs to find the heaviest player. Whoever pulls the heaviest player wins. Some kid pulled Jordan Walker (who apparently is 245 lbs, didn’t know that, will have to add it to my baseball’s big guys list) and won a 125-count vending box of 2022 topps which was interesting. I didn’t win much accept a 1992 Topps Finest Football set because I guessed what year Finest first started in a trivia game. They also had food and drinks, not much trading going on, but overall a fun experience.

Very nice! The numbered Elly and Griffey parallel look sick. 

I didn't know that this was a thing until now. I don't know if my LCS did this event because where I live the community that likes sports is very small and the sport card shop is very small. I also haven't been to my LCS in awhile.
